My mother…
Had she lived beyond 92
Would have been 113 today
May 25th. 2026
An unlikely age.

Well, you might say
We live in an Unlikely Age:
But she did not
Firmly planted, from the start
In the Twentieth Century.

Born in London on the cusp
Of the First World War
She survived the Second
The rearing of two children
And an unhappy marriage.          

With barely a toe
In the Twenty First Century
She was spared Artificial
Intelligence - which would have
Affronted her own mother wit.
